World Book Day - Ideas & Activities
Here at Blade & Rose we love World Book Day and this year it's taking place on Thursday 2nd of March. We can’t wait, celebrating books and reading together is such a fun way to spend time with your little ones. Reading with children has a huge number of benefits including nurturing your relationship together, aiding in relaxation (for you both!) and also helping your little ones to develop language and learn more about the world around them.
World Book Day is also a great way of celebrating all the wonderful children's books and with many schools and nurseries taking part we've come up with a few outfit ideas, activities and favourite books below.
World Book Day outfit ideas
We believe in making things easy for ourselves, as Mums we are already racing around juggling multiple children’s schedules and activities, as well as our own, so making it easy for ourselves is important. No complicated, expensive outfit ideas over here. In the current climate it’s also important to make sure to buy an outfit that can be worn more than once, which is why our selection of children’s animal hoodies make a great World Book Day costume option. Choose from Fox, Maura The Mouse, Highland Cow, Buzzy Bee (plus lots of other options!) and match it with you're favourite book. Once World Book Day is over you can zip up the hoodie and set off on some fun adventures together.
Our favourite books for World Book Day
Goodness there are so many wonderful children’s books out there, but some of our favourites include; Fox’s Socks by Julia Donaldson, The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle and How To Hide A Lion by Helen Stephens. Let us know in the comments below which books you love to read to your children.
World Book Day Activity ideas
For little ones it's fun to set up a play scene of their favourite book using their favourite toys, you can lead play by acting out the story or let their imagination run wild, creating their own story! Fun games like ‘book bingo’ or bringing your child’s favourite book to life with arts and crafts are all great ways to celebrate and encourage a love of reading.
We would love to hear more about how you like to celebrate World Book Day, don't forget to follow along with us over on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
