Reduce, Reuse, Recycle at Blade & Rose

After the success of our WWF UK collection, here at Blade & Rose we've thinking more about our actions and how they affect the planet. Sustainability is important to us, we want to operate our business in a way that means we are kind to our environment, and put in place processes that help to reduce our carbon footprint and use sustainable and recycled products wherever possible.

So, how are we doing this?

Recycled products
Our Eco splash suits are made from 30 recycled bottles, just one of the ways we are helping to divert waste from landfills. To add to this our colour change Raincoats have an outer layer which is made from 100% recycled polyester. The production of recycled polyester requires far fewer resources than that of new fibres and generates fewer CO2 emissions.

Sustainable cotton
As well as our 100% organic cotton range we also source all our other cotton products using The better cotton initiative (BCI) which is a global not for profit organisation and the largest cotton sustainability program in the world. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sectors future. We've been working closely with the same factories since we began in 2010 so we pride ourselves on having a close relationship with factory owners and knowing that all workers are treated ethically and legally.

Saving paper
We no longer send any physical dispatch notes in our packages and we encourage people to purchase e-vouchers rather than posting out paper vouchers (unless its a very special occasion!) this is helping to save paper waste.  Recycling paper is great, but saving paper by not printing at all helps to use less water, conserve energy, and help preserve adult trees.

Reduced carbon footprint
All our plastic packaging is recycled AND in turn can be recycled again. This means that the carbon footprint of our packages are greatly reduced helping with the sustainability of online shopping.

Moving forward we are continually improving sustainable operations and are always open to feedback and ideas about how we can make better changes for our planet. If you have any ideas you can always email as: hello@bladeandrose.co.uk
