In the UK there are more than 14 million people living below the breadline, 4.5 million of these being children. The team at Blade and Rose felt very passionately about the cause, so employees decided to donate to a local food bank ‘The Trussell Trust’ in Windermere, Lake District.
The Trussell Trust helps to provide a minimum of three nutritionally-balanced meals a day to people within the UK. They have more than 1,200 food bank centres that are used to collect, store and distribute to people in need. The Trussell Trust understands that it takes more than food to end hunger, so have set up campaigns to help support communities and challenge the structural issues that lock people in poverty.
Blade and Rose donated 45kg worth of food and toiletries, including tinned goods, sanitary products, confectionery, and dried goods, this donation will help those in need, especially over the Christmas period.
The Trussell Trusts vision is for a ‘future without the need for food banks’.
